Pearl is for Sale
$4,500.00
I've had this Beautiful 1974 White Les Paul Custom for quite a few years now. I love the way it looks and I love the way it plays.
I call her Pearl.
Since I'm not doing the band thing much any more and times being what they are I've decided to sell Pearl.
Pearl is not getting played enough by me now and I know she wants some action.
Let me tell you a little bit about her.
She's in pretty good shape for being about 37 years old.
When she was born all four Beatles were still around and Randy Rhoads was about 17 years old and was about to form the band Quiet Riot. Roberta Flack was Killing Me Softly with her song. Stevie Wonder had Innervisions. Duke Ellington, Ed Sullivan, "Mama" Cass Elliot, Bud Abbott, and Charles Lindbergh died that year. ABBA had Waterloo. Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks joined Fleetwood Mac. New bands that year were Talking Heads, Van Halen, Cheap Trick, Blondie, and Bad Company.
She weighs 9 lbs. 14.5 oz.
Pearl has had a good life, a lot of it asleep in her case. As far as I can tell she is all original.
I changed the strap pins to Schaller Locking Buttons. The original strap pins are in the case.
The pot numbers are 1377421.
There are a couple of minor issues. She was dropped from about three feet and hit padded carpet on the bottom strap pin. The enamel around the pin was chipped away but there has been no effect on the guitar and how she plays.
The other issue is a crack in the enamel at the neck:
I thought this might be a crack in the neck and I was worried about it so I called a good luthier. He told me that he had fixed many cracked Les Paul necks and to bring it in. I brought it in and he took a look and said there was nothing wrong with it. There was nothing to fix. He said he could try to match the enamel to make it look better. I decided not to cover it up. So it is as it was. I can't see, feel or hear anything at all out of whack because of it.
There are lots of hairline cracks in her paint and some scuffs. No buckle rash to speak of. A few chips and dings. All normal wear for a guitar of this age.
Her Alpine White finish has aged into a beautiful Cream color.
The original frets are not worn much.
This is a great playing guitar.
The original case shows some ware but is fine.
Below are enough pictures to get to know Pearl pretty well. If there is an angle that you can't see and want a better picture, Email me about it and I will post it pretty quickly.
